The host is Mayim Bialik for now and really CANNOT WAIT for Ken Jennings to take over. Not because Mayim is not doing a good job. I really like her as a host.

I just want Ken to host! That's really all. It's a better story. Here's a guy that is such a Jep champion that having him at the helm just means a lot to him and so many fans. Mayim, let's face it - is kinda random. And hey! I like random. So it's all win win-y over here - - just give me Ken!!!

We have also been watching in my house to see Matt tear it up. I mean, my 10 year old is bored by Matt and that is kinda funny actually. Because I feel like there are people out there who don't watch this show because they deem it boring and now it is like boring to a semi-fan (he's 10 and in normal circumstances he only likes watching when there is a tight competition - aka when Matt isn't winning by a fantastic - almost fantastical - landslide)

I guess he is a little of a fair weather fan, which is ok to me (his mom) mostly because he is 10.

Starting him early on a love of trivia is part of the slow game.

All this to say - Matt!!!

Watching his calm, slight surprise when he gets some correct & his consistency is entertaining. Thank you Jeopardy!

After the past 5 games all I say when he wins is "What's gonna happen? What are they gonna do?"

I mean the producers. Like how can this just go on and on and on?

I don't mind. I just wonder.

Like once he gets past Ken's 74 game winning streak, what happens in the producers' room?

Wait till he hits 100?

Close out a season (or 2?) with just one winner?

Re-name it the Matt show? Haha.

Interested in hearing people's opinions on this.

And go Matt! Go Ken!

(Inspiration for this post is this article which I haven't read through so maybe it answers some of the above musings)

https://www.theringer.com/tv/2021/10/1/22705072/matt-amodio-jeopardy-winning-streak-history

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22619207.post-17820479657089940872021-01-08T17:38:00.004-05:002021-01-08T17:38:50.774-05:00Beep Beep Beep
It's January 8, 2021 and it has been almost 4 years since our last post.

The world has changed. The last post took place during what can truly be named "Before" times.

Not only has our dear Alex Trebek passed away due to a swift bout of cancer but more current events keep on coming.

The global pandemic has been raging in the US for over 9 months. Trump, the country's 45th president has done incalculable damage to our country and our hearts.

Just two days ago was the insurrection when Trump supporters gained access to our nation's capitol with guns and ammunition trying to stop the electoral college votes from being officially official (they were certified in each state but Congress and Senate needed to ok them.)

So why does that bring me here?

I needed some joy to pass on and this brought me joy.

I hope you enjoy it, too and I hope to see some more updates here within the next 4 years!

https://www.vulture.com/2021/01/alex-trebek-controlled-jeopardy-beep-signal.html

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22619207.post-29810202613447867172017-03-15T14:42:00.000-04:002017-03-15T14:42:49.166-04:00This show is everywhere......but should be mentioned in the headline.
Long story short - I watched Jeopardy last week with my Jeopardy loving sister and brother in law.
Seth Wilson was his name and you could say that Jeopardy was his game. He had won about 3 games already and had a nice sum. Something like $131K give or take. He won. And that was last week.
Tonight I turned it on to see if he was still winning and he wasn't there. In fact, no men were there. It was 3 female contestants so I decided to watch it thru. And then I learned that Margie - the champ - had just beaten Seth Wilson the evening before that. He was a 12 time winner of approximately $340K and Alex Trebek said he ranked #5 for all time winners. Wow. "Seth"

Randi from Kalamazoo - she writes poems! And she wrote one about Jeopardy! Of course, she did.
Margie from Bethesda - a ride share driver for Uber and Lyft.
Call her!
Here is final Jep.
It was a good one.
Friends were over and inevitably, Jeopardy! came up as it does in many conversations in these parts.
Understand that Jeopardy! has different versions in some countries - we were informed there was a version of Jeopardy in Norway (1995-2000, 2004) with a pretty terrific promo.

I'd have our friend write this post to but she's in Norway on holiday, as Norwegians do!
I talked about this in my previous post- 'this' being Alex (Levy) remembering his first Jeopardy answer. The end of the kindergarten school year is near and Alex came home with project folders of his school work from the year.
What's this I see? A binder titled "Alex Levy-- Weekend Stories". How sweet, oh look, we played, he went to a party, he saw Grandma....and then....THIS:

I'll translate: Name: Alex Date: 1-11-16....'My first one right on Jeopardy.' Notice the players-- Steve was definitely there as Ava, me thinks, not sure about the other A. I may have yelped when I saw this page.

Please note that Harper, Alex's 4 year old sister, has said to her father, 'I don't want to watch Jeopardy. It's boring!'

Levy. Alex will always remember the first question he answered correctly a few weeks ago. Answer: "What are minions?" But seriously, what the hell are minions?

In other news, it's Power Players week on the show and I think Alex (Trebek) has gone a little rogue during interview time. When did the Jeopardy! interview get to be a place to air your woes? First he asked Jonathan Franzen about how he feels about Twitter. I'm paraphrasing but they both hate it and think it will lead to the decline of human civilization. No biggie. Then S.E. INSERT LAST NAME of CNN (!) fame talks about what it means to be a Log Cabin conservative. This means she believes in same-sex marriage. (and she loves Twitter) And to top it all off, the third interview gets into beliefs about the 22nd amendment which sets term limits on the presidency. I'm not saying these aren't important subjects but there is a time and a place.

For celeb interviews, I say stick to the script and talk about your charity! (where the winnings will go)

I miss the days of contestants talking about collecting $2 bills and surprising cashiers by using them. I also miss uncomfortable, awkward contestant silence. But all in all, to quote Glen who really said during the closing credits at the end, 'That was an excellent show!'

It was and is always the Golden Age of TV when Jeopardy is around. (That's my quote)

I can't say I've watched much of it yet.
For shame since it is already in its 2nd week but I did see Alex do well. I remember him. And Matt Johnson is the one to beat. He is in the semis this week.

The guy who lives in his parents apartment in NYC is also in the semis. That guy. Whatta life!!

I plan to watch the next 4 nights to see about the ending of. . . . T. . . o. . . C. . . Fall 2015.
There is so much great TV out there being called the Golden Age of TV (teeeeveeee) in some circles. But through it all, I have to say that Jeopardy! is and has always been high quality and I'm always happy to watch it. None of that gross, sad, violent drama that some shows revel in...just a friendly competition.
It seems to have even become better so shall I say it? we are now in 'A Golden Age of Jeopardy!'. Too many reasons to get into here and I think a super long post/thesis about it would be boring and frankly, who has the time, too many Jeopardy1 episodes to catch up on! I do have other things to do. Sort of.

And with this, dear reader, (aka "Jess"), I will post some lists and some posts. I'm inspired. See me at the list app!
So, the correct final Jeopardy answer for, "What flower is a disparaging term for Lefty Liberals?" (sic) was Bleeding Heart. But this NPR producer wrote Pansy.
She got some chuckles in the studio and then it went viral.

I am laughing that she is with NPR of all places. This makes it ok that she used that term.
In my opinion.
At first when I watched the video I definitely thought she was an uptight righty.
Not in a 'I am the smartest person alive!' way. Though, entertaining. And now that the Georgia Dean is gone (she was not that much fun but still solid), we're just going through contestants like water.
This is boring. But I can do blogspot still. Wheeeee! I'm a prolific blogger as you can tell.
There surely has been a rush of posts lately. Two in one year!
So I just saw this commercial for IBM with Ken Jennings and I thought Yay! And that guy! Go him!
I also wanted to record that my children are now Jeopardy fans. We've been watching nightly and they ask for it. Sure they get to stay up late and that is probably the main reason for their interest. But a few times my daughter has told me I should definitely get on the show so it's a nice ego boost for Mom too! I'll take what I can get!
